Freehold Township Schools

The quality of a township’s school system can often be the determining factor in whether or not you make that final decision to turn a house into your new home.  A child who is given a quality education develops a thirst to learn more and more as they grow.  This is why Freehold Township stresses the importance of a child’s education.

There are a total of seven elementary/middle schools which are all run by the Freehold Township Board of Education.  The goal of this board is to promote efforts to increase student achievement by supporting district initiatives that maximize the learning and growth of every student. The following is a list of the seven elementary/middle schools in Freehold:

  • Clifton T. Barkalow Middle School
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School
  • C. Richard Applegate Elementary School
  • Joseph J. Catena Elementary School
  • Laura Donovan Elementary School
  • Marshall W. Errickson Elementary School
  • West Freehold Elementary School

There is also a pre-school in Freehold called the Early Childhood Learning Center. This is for children ages 3–5, and offers half-day sessions of typical preschoolers, economically disadvantaged, and full-day sessions of preschoolers with special needs.

Once a student reaches the 9th grade in Freehold Township, he/she will attend one of two high schools. It will either be the Freehold Township High School or the Freehold High School.  The determination of school will depend on the home address of the student.  Specialty programs are offered to High School students in the Freehold Regional School District who would like to start educating themselves in a specific career.  There are five programs that Freehold High School and Freehold Township High School offers.  They are The Culinary Arts / Hospitality Management Academy, The Computer Sciences Academy, The Animal and Botanical Sciences Academy, The Medical Sciences Learning Center, and The Contemporary Global Issues Learning Center.     Regardless of the specific high school, your child is sure to receive the best possible education from highly skilled and dedicated professionals.  Each student’s scholastic program will require a collaboration as well as cooperative planning between school and home to ensure your child’s scholastic success.
